Latin American/Latino Film Festivals

"Poor cinema" does not mean to say cinema lacking ideas or artistic quality, but refers to cinema of restricted economy that is so often created in marginalized or lesser-developed countries, as well as those at the heart of guiding societies at the cultural-economic level, be it within official production programs or independent or alternative cinema.

Cine pobre no quiere decir cine carente de ideas o de calidad artística, sino que se refiere a un cine de restringida economía que se ejecuta tanto en los países de menos desarrollo o periféricos, así como también en el seno de las sociedades rectoras a nivel económico-cultural, ya sea dentro de programas de producción oficiales, ya sea a través del cine independiente o alternativo.

It's All True is the leading event devoted exclusively to the culture of documentary in South America. Every year since 1996, around one hundred Brazilian and International documentaries, premières and classics, are screened for ten days simultaneously in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

É Tudo Verdade é o principal evento dedicado exclusivamente à cultura do documentário na América do Sul. Criado em 1996 pelo crítico Amir Labaki, o festival tem exibido anualmente cerca de uma centena de obras não-ficcionais brasileiras e internacionais, entre lançamentos e clássicos, simultaneamente em São Paulo e no Rio de Janeiro.

Launched in 1999, the New York International Latino Film Festival (NYILFF) is now the premier Urban Latino film event in the country. The NYILFF's mission is to showcase the works of the hottest emerging Latino filmmaking talent in the U.S. and Latin America, offer expansive images of the Latino experience, and celebrate the diversity and spirit of the Latino community.

From October 22nd to the 4th of November, São Paulo hosts the traditional São Paulo International Film Festival. For two weeks, more then 400 films from several countries will be exhibited at the 34th Mostra, in over 20 spaces among cinemas, museums and cultural centers around the capital city. The selection provides an overview of the world contemporary cinema production and of the tendencies, themes, narratives and aesthetics produced worldwide.

De 22 de outubro a 4 de novembro, acontece em São Paulo a tradicional Mostra Internacional de Cinema. Durante duas semanas, a 34ª Mostra exibe mais de 400 títulos dos mais variados países e de diversas cinematografias que estarão sendo exibidos em mais de 20 espaços, entre cinemas, museus e centros culturais espalhados pela capital paulista. A seleção faz um apanhado do que o cinema contemporâneo mundial está produzindo e das principais tendências, temáticas, narrativas e estéticas produzidas em todo o mundo.
