SYNOPSIS

Music has a way of bridging all language and cultural barriers. Music communicates where words often fail. Traveling across the globe, two Basque musicians – Igor and Harkaitz - use their musical talents to create a dialog between people and cultures. Their instrument, the Txalaparta, is a traditional Basque instrument that must be played by two people. The music that arises from this instrumental encounter doesn’t just belong to them. Instead, the sounds that emerge become their conversation with those whom they encounter on their journey.

As our musicians wander from the Sahara to Lapland, from India to Mongolia, they create a beautiful soundtrack that underscores the value of cultural exchanges through music and travel.  In an ever-changing world, Nömadak Tx stands out as a project for people, who in the face of globalization, remained tied and committed to their traditional way of life.

Winner of over 10 Best Documentary awards and nominated as one of the top 20 documentaries of all time by the International Documentary Foundation , Nömadak Tx is pure, cinematic pleasure, beautifully shot in HD. The film shows us that even in the face of adversity, something wonderful often emerges.

REVIEWS

"The music does the talking in "Nomadak Tx," an exhilarating, feverishly globe-hopping doc that follows Basque musical duo Oreka Tx as they seek out fellow artists in far-flung nomadic societies. Very possibly the Next Big Thing for world music mavens and hipster armchair travelers alike, pic confidently relies on images and rhythms to demonstrate how small the world can be. It's hard to imagine a more ideal festival film, appealing as it does to cinema, music and exotica fans in equal measure, pointing to terrific worldwide theatrical and vid biz with certain CD tie-ins." - Variety
